Description

RurAL CAP is a private, statewide nonprofit founded in 1965 to improve the quality of life for low-income Alaskans. Its work combines advocacy, education, affordable housing, and direct services that respect Alaska’s diverse cultures and communities.

Through its Early Childhood Development, Victim Services & Wellness, Housing, and Community Development programs, RurAL CAP supports community-led responses to poverty. Housing services include homebuyer counseling, mutual self-help housing, weatherization, home modifications, mobile home repairs, affordable rental housing, supportive housing, and family transitional housing.

Victim Services & Wellness includes Bay Haven domestic violence and sexual assault shelter services, a Child Advocacy Center, and the Hooper Bay Wellness Program.
