Description

Homes For the Homeless (HFH) operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in New York City and pairs housing with on-site services intended to support families beyond their stay. Its family residences offer early education, afterschool and recreation activities, wrap-around social services, referrals, and access to citywide resources.

Family Services teams work with each family on an individualized plan toward permanent housing. Support includes case management, social-work assistance, housing guidance such as apartment referrals and voucher-application assistance, food pantries, school-related support, and referrals. Employment programming includes resume preparation, interview coaching, and job referrals. Through the Culinary Center at Allie’s Place, adult students from HFH residences and the local Bronx community can develop skills for food and hospitality careers.

Families seeking shelter should review HFH’s official shelter guidance for current directions and procedures. For additional homeless assistance resources in New York, see NHREA’s state guide, and consult federal assistance resources for broader support options. Visit the HFH website to confirm current program details.
