YWCA Monterey County is a nonprofit based in Salinas that supports survivors of domestic violence through victim-centered, trauma-informed services. Its work also advances a mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity.
Programs include guidance for recognizing abuse, safety planning, advocacy, confidential emergency housing, and transitional housing. A crisis line connects people experiencing violence or abuse with trained domestic violence advocates who can help them discuss their circumstances and plan for safety. Learn more on the YWCA Monterey County programs page.
Mental health services include individual and family therapy for women, children, youth, and parents affected by trauma, along with psychoeducational groups related to domestic violence. The organization describes trauma-informed approaches and support in English and Spanish, with services that may be free or offered on a sliding scale. Visit the mental health services page for details. Additional resources are available through NHREA’s California homeless assistance resources and federal assistance resources.
