Addressing the Hidden Homeless Crisis
Many families find themselves trapped in a cycle of poverty, paying between $800 to $1,200 per month for a single-room motel, often living in cramped and unstable conditions. Their children navigate school and after-school activities while confined to these temporary living spaces. These families work hard but earn just enough income to be ineligible for government assistance programs like food stamps, yet not enough to afford deposits, down payments, or rent for permanent housing.
A New Beginning at Park Lane
To address this critical issue, River of Refuge purchased the former 150,000 sq. ft. Park Lane Hospital near Raytown, Missouri. Once considered a community eyesore, this building is being transformed into a vital community asset, providing a safe, dignified place for working families to live and rebuild their lives.
Comprehensive Support for the Working Poor
Our programs provide not only affordable lodging but also essential services aimed at equipping families with the resources they need for long-term success. By offering a direct alternative to costly, unstable motel living, River of Refuge creates pathways toward permanent housing and greater stability.
