Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego
Description
Rooted deeply in the scriptural values of mercy and hospitality, Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego serves as a beacon of hope and justice for the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized. Guided by the gospel message of Matthew 25, our mission calls individuals and institutions to action, advocating for a just society while walking alongside those we serve to help them realize their full human potential.
Established in 1919, Catholic Charities San Diego began as a humble welfare agency focused on child, family, correctional, and immigrant services. Over the past century, we have continuously evolved, adapting to meet changing community needs while upholding our core commitment to compassion and advocacy. From responding to crises during the Great Depression and war orphan placement efforts to resettling thousands of Vietnamese refugees, our history is rich with impactful service.
Today, Catholic Charities continues to provide essential social welfare programs, community leadership, and advocacy within the Diocese of San Diego, guided by an unwavering dedication to assisting children, families, immigrants, and all those in need with dignity and respect.
