St. John’s Cathedral Food Pantry offers free groceries to people who need food in Los Angeles, California. The volunteer-run pantry serves households whose budgets must cover rent, utilities and other basic expenses as well as food. It is part of the HopeNet pantry network and distributes food at the cathedral near the University of Southern California.
No documentation is needed to receive food, and participation is not limited by religious affiliation or background. Individuals and families can use the pantry without providing identification or making a payment. You may be asked for your household size and ZIP code; these questions do not mean you need to bring documents proving them.
The cathedral’s food pantry distributes fresh produce and canned and frozen groceries, with volunteers continuing while supplies last. Food comes through partnerships with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Seeds of Hope and community supporters. The mix of groceries can change, so specific foods or quantities are not guaranteed.
This is a monthly distribution. Call the church office before traveling to confirm the next date, pickup hours and where to join the distribution. The cathedral is across the street from the LATTC/Ortho Institute Metro E Line stop. If you also need ongoing help with groceries or other household costs, NHREA’s federal assistance guide explains additional programs to explore.
