Description

Founded in 1988, Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria, Virginia, has grown from a small church basement program into a leading nonprofit dedicated to ending and preventing homelessness. What began in 1982, when Father Tony Casey opened his church doors to provide warmth and safety for those with nowhere else to turn, has evolved into a comprehensive organization offering emergency shelter, supportive housing, education, employment assistance, and case management. Carpenter’s Shelter empowers individuals and families experiencing homelessness to achieve stability, independence, and long-term success. With decades of community support and innovative solutions, we remain committed to ensuring that every neighbor has access to safe housing, vital resources, and a brighter future.”
