Founded in 1989, House the Homeless, Inc. is Texas’ oldest all-volunteer organization dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness through education, advocacy, and grassroots action. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the organization focuses on raising awareness about the complex causes of homelessness and economic insecurity while promoting practical, sustainable solutions.
House the Homeless stands out by ensuring that at least 60% of its Board of Directors are individuals who have experienced homelessness themselves, grounding its leadership in lived experience. The organization works tirelessly to end economic homelessness both locally and nationally, emphasizing prevention and systemic change to build stronger, more inclusive communities.
