Kawerak — Child Care Services helps eligible families across the Bering Strait Region apply for child-care assistance, identify tribally approved or state-licensed care, and understand provider options. The program coordinates with early-childhood services, but the Nome office is an application and support site, not a daycare. Eligibility depends on tribal status, age, regional residency, household income, documentation, and the parent or guardian’s qualifying activity.
The public office is on the first floor of the Ublugiaq Building at 504 Seppala Drive, Nome, AK 99762. Call 907-443-4358 or 800-450-4341 before visiting to confirm current hours, eligibility, required documents, application steps, and whether a provider is approved. An older handbook’s 907-443-4263 number should not be used.
