New Friends Homeless Center began in 2010 to support people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in the San Fernando Valley. This inclusive, faith-based organization is powered by volunteers from varied backgrounds, religions, and cultures, with a mission to address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with dignity and respect.
New Friends provides freshly prepared, four-course meals in a welcoming, sit-down, restaurant-style setting. These gatherings also create opportunities for community, encouragement, and live entertainment from volunteer performers. Guests may receive practical essentials such as hygiene kits, clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, pet food, and other donated supplies. Those served include veterans, older adults, people with disabilities or special needs, and people who may arrive with pets.
Through its Family Giveback Program, local families can volunteer and distribute donated items to guests. Learn more about the organization’s mission and ways to help through the official New Friends Homeless Center website. Additional support resources are available through California homeless assistance resources and federal assistance resources.
