Ending homelessness is a bold and complex challenge that requires unified efforts and comprehensive solutions. In April 2019, two impactful organizations—Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte—joined forces to become Roof Above. By merging our talents, services, and resources, we significantly expanded our ability to support and empower individuals experiencing homelessness.
Prior to the merger, Urban Ministry Center specialized in serving unsheltered neighbors through its Day Services Center and intensive housing solutions. Meanwhile, Men’s Shelter of Charlotte addressed immediate needs by providing emergency shelter and short-term housing options. Together as Roof Above, we offer a seamless continuum of care—from crisis intervention to permanent housing—to help end homelessness in our community.
