ROOTS Young Adult Shelter provides a safe, welcoming, affirming place in Seattle for young adults ages 18–25 experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Its low-barrier approach meets young people with dignity and respect as they work toward safety and stability.
Services described by ROOTS include a warm meal and safe place to sleep, along with case management, housing navigation, wellness support, employment resources, and community connections. Staff help guests address needs such as housing searches, documents, education, employment, health care, and connections to community resources. ROOTS also emphasizes identity-affirming, trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and culturally responsive support, including an affirming environment for LGBTQIA+ young adults.
ROOTS states that it provides services without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, immigration status, or background.
