The Selma Area Food Bank has been dedicated to alleviating hunger and food insecurity in Dallas, Marengo, Perry, and Wilcox counties since October 18, 1993. Their mission is to source, acquire, and distribute nutritious food to those experiencing hunger, collaborating with donors, volunteers, and community partners. They work through over 50 active partner agencies, including local churches, shelters, and food pantries, to distribute food to individuals in need. Programs include mobile pantries, senior meal programs (CSFP and Brown Bag), SNAP assistance, nutrition services, and emergency food assistance. Each year, they distribute over a million pounds of food, reaching over 70,000 individuals annually in their four-county service area.
