Sister José Women’s Center

Sister José Women’s Center is a Tucson-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving unaccompanied women who are unhoused. Its low-barrier day center offers a stable, safe place to recover from the daily challenges of homelessness and extreme poverty while connecting guests with support and resources for a path beyond housing insecurity.

Founded in 2009 by Jean Fedigan, the organization began as a winter overnight shelter in a Tucson church sanctuary and later expanded to its South Park Avenue location. Its work is grounded in dignity, respect, compassion, and community, with day and overnight programs that help women move toward greater stability and a more sustainable future.
