Stockton 209 Cares is a Stockton nonprofit founded in 2015 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2016. Its mission is to assist people experiencing poverty, including people who are homeless, through food, clothing, and other support for low-income families. The organization also works with local community organizations to address individual needs.
Documented efforts include public food distributions, homeless outreach, neighborhood cleanups, clothing and shoe assistance, holiday activities and gifts for children and youth living in shelters, school-supply support, and scholarships for seniors. Stockton 209 Cares also describes helping people connect with shelters and drug and alcohol programs, along with efforts addressing food insecurity.
