The Salvation Army McKinnell House provides temporary emergency shelter for homeless families with children in Anchorage. Located within The Salvation Army Family Enrichment (SAFE) Center at 1712 A Street, the program helps families work toward stable, independent housing.
Adults work with a case manager to develop an individualized plan, while children can be connected with educational and support resources. Services include lodging and staff support, educational assistance in partnership with the Anchorage School District, nutritious meals and snacks, and life-skills development. Case management continues for six months after families move into independent living.
