United Way of the Southern Tier mobilizes community resources in Chemung and Steuben counties to address needs such as food, shelter, and safety for people affected by domestic violence. Its work brings community partners together around local priorities and emphasizes coordination and accountability.
Education efforts include Kids on Track, which aims to help children start school ready to learn and read at grade level by age eight. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides free, high-quality books to children from birth until age five in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and Yates counties, regardless of family income. United Way also supports efforts that help older adults age safely at home and promote healthy living.
Community members can learn about giving through the organization’s official campaign resources and explore ways to participate through its volunteer resources. For additional housing-related support information, visit NHREA’s New York homeless assistance resources and federal assistance resources.
