Description

The West Alabama Food Bank, serving nine counties in West Central Alabama, has been dedicated to alleviating hunger in the region since 1987. They operate as a central distribution point, sourcing and providing nutritious food to a network of over 140 partner agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. Beyond their core distribution efforts, the Food Bank runs programs like the BackPack Buddies initiative, providing weekend meals for children facing food insecurity; Senior Boxes (CSFP), offering monthly food assistance to low-income seniors; and Mobile Pantries, delivering food directly to underserved rural communities. In 2024, they distributed over 10 million pounds of food, demonstrating their significant impact on the lives of individuals and families struggling with hunger in West Alabama. Their work is made possible through the generous support of donors, volunteers, and community partners who share their commitment to a hunger-free West Alabama.
