Description

Whittier Area First Day, also known as Whittier First Day, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by a coalition of Whittier residents. It supports people experiencing homelessness and households working toward housing stability through interim housing, intensive case management, health-related support, and practical assistance.

Its programs include trauma-informed interim housing with housing-focused case management and connections to medical care, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and community resources. The Access to Care Program addresses barriers to permanent housing through move-in assistance, employment services, transportation, hygiene supplies, identification support, and document recovery. First Day also provides permanent affordable housing and wraparound support for people with complex health or behavioral health needs.
