Churches United was founded in 1987 by eleven local faith groups at the old Bethesda Lutheran Church. Since then, we have grown into a community-driven nonprofit supported by more than 100 faith communities across the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Today, Churches United operates four locations, including an emergency shelter, a community food pantry, and two permanent supportive housing complexes. Our mission is to provide shelter, food, and housing stability to neighbors in need while fostering dignity, compassion, and hope.
For over 38 years, we’ve worked side by side with local congregations, volunteers, and community partners to break the cycle of homelessness and hunger. At Churches United, we believe that together, we can create a stronger, more caring community where every person has access to basic needs and the opportunity to thrive.
