Description

For over 40 years, the Beth-El Center has been a pillar of support in the Greater Milford community, providing crucial emergency food and shelter programs. What began as a small, interfaith initiative in 1981 has evolved into a powerful organization dedicated to not just managing homelessness, but ending it.
Our Transformational Approach
We believe that while shelter can save lives, housing ends homelessness. Our approach is to help people move beyond the experience of homelessness by providing comprehensive, outcome-based, and data-driven services. Through our six distinct programs, we offer a full continuum of crisis support, including:
Emergency Shelter for men, women, veterans, and families
Permanent Supportive Housing
Outreach and Diversion Services
Community Kitchen Services
No Freeze Shelter
With a team of dedicated employees and over 120 volunteers, we help people access the housing-specific and support services they need to achieve stability and prevent a return to homelessness.
A Collaborative Community Leader
Beth-El Center is a highly engaged partner within the City of Milford and 12 other surrounding municipalities, including Guilford, Branford, New Haven, and Shelton. We serve as the primary provider for homeless prevention, outreach, and food access across the region. We also offer thought leadership and strategic planning to help other communities develop effective responses to homelessness. Our mission is to build a community of partnership and empowerment, aligning with strategic partners to create lasting impact.
