Description

Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF) is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit focused on improving educational opportunities for children and youth experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County. HCEF works with students, families, schools, shelters, and community organizations to address barriers created by unstable housing and support academic progress.

Through its continuum of programming, HCEF offers interconnected support from early learning through high school and career readiness. Programs include after-school and summer learning, enrichment activities, Learning Centers with educational resources and technology, school-supply distributions, teen outreach, and financial awards for young people pursuing higher education or career training. Learn more through HCEF’s official programs information.

HCEF also leads the Homeless Education Network, a collaborative effort that brings together schools, service providers, agencies, and advocates to share resources, improve educational outcomes, and advance policy solutions.
