Description

Arizona faces a significant homelessness crisis, with approximately 29,000 people experiencing homelessness—equating to one in every 227 Arizonans. Of these, an estimated 61% reside in Maricopa County, making it the epicenter of the state’s homeless population. Furthermore, about 2,500 individuals are considered unsheltered, living directly on the streets without access to stable housing. The majority of the homeless population consists of single adults, with 79% being men.

In recent years, the number of homeless families in Arizona has increased, many of whom are victims of domestic violence. According to the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES), 4,346 adults and 4,095 children have received assistance from domestic violence service providers, highlighting the urgent need for expanded resources and targeted support.

This growing crisis calls for awareness, compassion, and action from every community member. With minimal time and effort, individuals and organizations alike can play a critical role in reducing homelessness. Through volunteering, donating, advocating, and supporting local programs, we can collectively improve the lives of our homeless neighbors.

It is time to come together and take meaningful steps to help reduce homelessness in our community, ensuring everyone has access to the stability, dignity, and opportunities they deserve.
