A Place Called Home – Empowering South Los Angeles Youth for Over 30 Years
A Place Called Home (APCH) is a nonprofit organization based in South Los Angeles that has been transforming lives and uplifting the community for over three decades. Founded on the belief that a young person’s zip code should never determine their future, APCH provides a safe haven and an empowering environment where children and teens can thrive emotionally, socially, and economically. With a deep commitment to equity, opportunity, and social justice, A Place Called Home delivers high-impact programs designed to inspire, encourage, and prepare youth for meaningful lives and successful futures.

Since its founding, APCH has served thousands of young people through a comprehensive array of services, including education and tutoring, college preparation, career development, mental health support, nutrition programs, music and arts education, and leadership training. Each program is designed to foster a sense of belonging, confidence, and resilience, while equipping youth with the tools they need to overcome adversity and break the cycle of poverty.

A Place Called Home is more than just a youth center — it is a vibrant hub for families, educators, and community leaders working together to build a brighter future for South Central Los Angeles. By nurturing young minds and amplifying their voices, APCH helps unlock their full potential, regardless of background or life circumstances. The organization also advocates for systemic change, partnering with local schools, nonprofits, and government agencies to address the root causes of inequality and provide sustainable solutions.

With over 30 years of proven impact, A Place Called Home stands as a model for community empowerment and youth development. As APCH continues to grow and adapt to the evolving needs of South LA, it remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that every child — no matter where they come from — has the opportunity to achieve happiness, stability, and long-term success.
