Advancing Communities Together
Description
Established in 1993 as a joint powers authority between the city and county of Los Angeles, LAHSA plays a critical leadership role in addressing homelessness across Los Angeles County. As the lead agency for the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, LAHSA coordinates federal, state, county, and city funding to support shelter, housing, and services for people experiencing homelessness. Through strategic planning and collaboration with local governments, nonprofits, and service providers, LAHSA maximizes resources to deliver innovative programs that prevent homelessness, provide emergency shelter, and promote long-term housing stability. Their comprehensive approach ensures that individuals and families facing housing insecurity receive the support and opportunities needed to rebuild their lives with dignity and security.
