Augusta Rescue Mission
Description
Founded in 1965 by Reverend Robert Moon and his wife Daisy, the Augusta Rescue Mission has grown and evolved into a vital community resource for those facing homelessness and hardship. When Bob and Daisy Moon arrived in Augusta on September 21, 1965, they had no local connections but quickly reached out to the Police Department, Health Department, and community leaders. By November of that year, they had successfully organized a steering committee to guide the mission’s early work.
Since then, Augusta Rescue Mission has remained committed to providing shelter, meals, and support services to individuals and families in need throughout the Augusta area.
