Home Again L.A.
Description
Home Again Los Angeles (HALA) was founded by compassionate volunteers, including local faith leaders, to address the unique challenges faced by situationally homeless families, who are often overlooked in favor of chronic homelessness initiatives. Inspired by Family Promise National and spearheaded by Jennifer Greene-Smith and Pastor Paul Clairville, HALA opened its doors in 2010, initially sheltering families with the support of congregational partners providing meals and overnight stays. After a brief pause in 2014 to strengthen its strategy and resources, the organization revitalized under CEO Albert Hernandez’s leadership in 2015, expanding services from rapid rehousing to homeless prevention. Today, HALA operates across three sites with a dedicated team of 14 staff members, having helped over 600 families transition to permanent housing, showcasing the power of community care and resilience.
