Homeless Youth Alliance

Homeless Youth Alliance serves young people experiencing homelessness and runaway youth in San Francisco, with a focus on the Haight-Ashbury area. Its work centers on helping young people protect themselves, educate one another, reduce harm in the community, and pursue transitions away from street homelessness when they are ready.

HYA’s volunteer information describes community beautification efforts in Haight-Ashbury, Golden Gate and Panhandle Parks, and nearby neighborhoods, including the safe disposal of trash, recyclables, and syringes. The organization also connects participants with donated resources such as outdoor gear, medical supplies, and pet supplies.

People seeking broader support can review NHREA’s California homeless assistance resources and federal assistance resources. Visit HYA’s official website to confirm current programs, volunteer information, and ways to support its work.
