Description

a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing emergency shelter, supportive housing, essential needs, and employment programs to over 35,000 residents of Montgomery County, Maryland, each year. Founded in 1972 by local faith communities as the “Community Ministry of Montgomery County,” IW began by coordinating temporary shelter efforts through volunteer-led congregational support.

Though not a religious organization, Interfaith Works remains grounded in its founding ethos of collective commitment to ensuring every neighbor has a chance to find stability and thrive. Serving primarily residents at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line, many of whom face homelessness or housing insecurity, IW has expanded and adapted its programs over five decades to meet evolving community needs. Through compassionate, client-centered support, Interfaith Works walks alongside individuals and families on their journey toward lasting stability and self-sufficiency.
