Iowa City Catholic Worker is an immigrant- and refugee-led community rooted in the Catholic Worker tradition and focused on hospitality, dignity, and care for people experiencing poverty or homelessness. At its Sycamore Street House of Hospitality, the organization offers food, showers, laundry, toiletries, coffee, and conversation, welcoming immigrants and refugees as well as other people in need.
Its work also includes food runs, rent assistance, protective accompaniment, and deportation defense for immigrant workers and families. The community connects direct hospitality with the Catholic Worker Movement’s broader emphasis on houses of hospitality and worker-centered community life. Visit the Iowa City Catholic Worker website to learn more about its programs, volunteer opportunities, and ways to help.
For broader housing and basic-needs information, review NHREA’s homeless assistance resources in Iowa and federal assistance resources. Visit the official organization website to confirm current program details.
