Description

Lighthouse was formed on July 1, 2019, through the merger of two powerful organizations: South Oakland Shelter and Lighthouse of Oakland County. With a combined experience of over 85 years, the new Lighthouse has become a stronger, more effective beacon of hope for individuals and families in need.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to building equitable communities that alleviate poverty. By leveraging the best of both former agencies, we provide a comprehensive range of services, including emergency shelter, food assistance, and long-term housing solutions. Our goal is to empower people to move from crisis to self-sufficiency, creating lasting stability and a path to a brighter future.
A Unified Front Against Poverty
The merger allows us to provide a more robust and multifaceted response to economic disparity in our community. We continue to innovate and collaborate with our partners to ensure that all people have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
