A $50 contribution provides a grocery cart through Cart With a Heart, World Harvest Food Bank’s food-access program in Los Angeles, California. World Harvest Charities and Family Services operates the program for individuals and families who need help with their grocery budget. The cart supplies food to take home and prepare, rather than ready-to-eat meal service.
Shoppers choose produce that fits in their cart from a selection that changes daily. Other groceries and household essentials depend on available supplies. If you need particular foods for a health condition or dietary restriction, ask about the day’s selection before making the trip.
People unable to make the contribution can receive a cart at no cost in exchange for four hours of volunteering. Contact World Harvest to arrange a shift and learn what the volunteer option requires. West Hollywood food-access vouchers are a separate option for qualifying households connected to that city; vouchers require eligibility approval and depend on availability.
For help beyond a grocery cart, explore NHREA’s federal assistance resources. Public benefits have separate applications and do not enroll a household in Cart With a Heart.
