Keeping Families in Their Homes: The Stable Families Program
Since 2009, our Stable Families Program has been a lifeline for families in Bridgeport, successfully preventing the evictions of 98% of those who complete the program. Each year, we help more than 240 people avoid the trauma of losing their homes, a critical service in a state with some of the highest eviction rates in the nation.
Our Focused Impact
The majority of the households we serve—approximately 80%—are headed by single women of color, with over a third having three or more children. We focus on families in subsidized housing in Bridgeport, where an eviction could mean losing their subsidy and facing an already unaffordable rental market.
Our Solution-Oriented Approach
Our program is centered on intensive case management and strategic partnerships with legal services and other resource providers. While we sometimes offer financial assistance, our primary goal is to provide long-term solutions tailored to the unique needs of each family or individual. By offering customized casework, we help people achieve lasting housing stability and security.
