Description

Since 2001, Doors of Change has been transforming the lives of homeless youth, serving over 23,000 young people and helping nearly 3,000 transition from the streets into safe, stable housing. Originally founded as “Photocharity,” this 501(c)(3) nonprofit has raised over $8 million to support homeless Transitional Age Youth (TAY), ages 17-24, addressing a critical gap in services for this vulnerable population.

Our mission is to advocate for homeless youth by providing access to essential resources that improve their quality of life and promote self-sufficiency. Understanding that nearly one-third of homeless adults first experienced homelessness as youth, our work focuses on early intervention to break this cycle. Adapting to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, we expanded from award-winning in-person music and art programs to the Homeless Youth Advocacy Program (HYAP), reaching clients on the streets and through remote communication. This personalized, relationship-driven approach helps save lives and supports each young person on their unique journey to stability.
