Description

PATH was founded on December 8, 1983, when Claire and Rev. Charles Orr issued a heartfelt call to action to address the growing issue of homelessness. That night, 60 people came together to form what would become one of California’s most impactful organizations. What started with distributing food and clothing to people living on the streets has evolved into a statewide movement to end homelessness.

Today, PATH operates in more than 150 cities across five regions, managing over 70 locations and creating over 2,700 units of permanent supportive housing. Using the proven Housing First model, PATH connects people to permanent housing and then provides comprehensive support to help them stabilize and thrive. With services like street outreach, interim housing, employment assistance, mental health care, Veteran support, and substance use treatment, PATH serves more than 26,000 people annually. Since 2013, PATH has successfully connected over 25,000 individuals to permanent homes, giving hope and a future to countless families and individuals.
