Shelter the Homeless

Shelter the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving people experiencing homelessness and working with community partners to develop safe facilities and expand solutions to prevent and end homelessness in Utah. In Salt Lake County, it owns and supports six Homeless Resource Centers that are leased and operated by experienced service providers.

Through this coordinated system, the organization supports access to shelter, meals, transportation, laundry and shower facilities, computer access, outdoor space, and onsite health and supportive services. Partner organizations provide case management and other assistance that can help residents address immediate needs and move toward greater stability. Shelter the Homeless also developed Family Interim Non-Congregate Housing, a motel-style program in South Salt Lake with private rooms and onsite support for families experiencing homelessness while they work toward permanent housing or another stable solution.
