Description

Homeless Helping Homeless, Inc. (HHH) employs an innovative, evidence-based approach uniquely designed to end homelessness by prioritizing housing as the critical first step in the recovery process. Unlike traditional models where therapy and support services often struggle to be effective due to unstable living conditions, HHH recognizes that providing safe, stable housing first dramatically improves the success of counseling, job training, and other supportive programs. This groundbreaking “Housing First” methodology allows individuals experiencing homelessness to stabilize their lives and build a foundation for long-term self-sufficiency.

HHH’s comprehensive system begins with emergency housing, offering immediate shelter where homeless individuals can stabilize for up to one week. From there, clients transition into supportive transitional housing programs where they receive therapy, counseling, job training, and other critical services tailored to address the root causes of their homelessness. The ultimate goal is permanent affordable housing, where HHH provides leases guaranteeing tenants a secure place to call home. This ensures clients are officially “homeless no more,” even in the face of economic hardships such as job loss. The program’s ongoing support model helps clients maintain housing stability while rebuilding their lives.

A key strength of Homeless Helping Homeless is its social enterprise initiatives, which empower clients to generate income that supports themselves and others within the community. This cycle of empowerment and self-sufficiency distinguishes HHH’s model as a sustainable, impactful solution to homelessness.

One of the greatest challenges HHH faces is a shortage of available housing units to accommodate the growing number of clients in need. While the program’s success depends on having sufficient transitional and permanent housing options, current capacity limits prevent serving all applicants. The transitional housing program is currently at full capacity, making every donation and community partnership vital to expanding housing opportunities and helping more individuals move off the streets and into permanent homes.
