Description

Housing 4 the Homeless (H4H): Ending Homelessness One Person at a Time

Housing 4 the Homeless (H4H) is a compassionate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness by providing personalized, intensive support to our most vulnerable unhoused neighbors. Our mission centers on serving older adults, many of whom are medically fragile and make up nearly 30% of San Diego’s unhoused population. With deep roots in social justice advocacy, H4H offers hope and stability to those facing immense barriers to housing and healthcare.

In San Diego—the least affordable city in the United States—housing insecurity impacts people from all walks of life. Many of those we serve are older adults who were once essential workers, retirees on fixed incomes, or longtime residents priced out of the market. A cascade of misfortunes such as the loss of a partner, medical emergencies, or mental health challenges like depression and anxiety often rapidly deplete savings and create overwhelming obstacles to maintaining stable housing. Without family or close support systems, it becomes easy to lose everything.

At H4H, we step in as that trusted family member or close friend, providing compassionate, hands-on assistance that helps individuals stabilize their health, navigate complex healthcare and social systems, and secure safe, permanent housing. Our approach is uniquely tailored to meet the needs of older adults who often face systemic barriers—especially in largely virtual service environments—that can become insurmountable without dedicated advocacy and support. We specialize in delivering the personalized, intensive care necessary to break these barriers and restore dignity and stability.

By focusing on holistic, individualized support, Housing 4 the Homeless is transforming lives and building stronger communities throughout San Diego County. We believe that with the right resources and unwavering commitment, every person can find a safe home and the opportunity to live with health, security, and hope.
