Description

Founded in 1990, the Homeless Action Center (HAC) provides free public benefits advocacy to unhoused and disabled residents of Alameda County. Its mission centers on helping people pursue their legal rights while advancing a vision in which housing, health care, dignity, and respect are recognized as community responsibilities.

HAC offers Drop-In Services that provide brief legal assistance, information, and referrals for public-benefits questions and related non-legal concerns. The organization also manages Almost Home, a Berkeley housing project offering temporary, supportive transitional housing to some SSI legal-services clients while they work toward benefits resolution and permanent housing placement.

For program details and contact guidance, visit the Homeless Action Center website. Additional information about homeless assistance in California and federal assistance resources may also help individuals explore available support.
