Connecticut Fair Housing Center works to ensure equal access to housing opportunities throughout Connecticut, free from discrimination. The Center provides information about fair housing rights and helps people understand discriminatory practices involving rental or home-purchase decisions.
For renters and homebuyers, its self-help resources include guides and tools related to eviction, housing conditions, Fair Rent Commission complaints, and moving while protecting fair housing rights. When people report housing discrimination, the Center may offer advice and counseling about applicable fair housing laws and may provide free legal representation to victims.
The organization also develops educational fair housing tours that explore how discriminatory policies shaped communities in Connecticut, including Hartford, New London, and Willimantic. Visit the official Connecticut Fair Housing Center website for details. NHREA also provides Connecticut housing assistance resources and federal assistance resources.
