Lucy’s Hearth is a dedicated 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter located in Newport County, committed to serving children and families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is clear: to ensure that all families have a safe and stable place to call home.
With a vision rooted in hope and empowerment, Lucy’s Hearth believes that homeless families can overcome barriers to self-sufficiency through comprehensive, holistic programs offered in a nurturing and supportive environment. Our Middletown facility, situated on 2.2 acres at 19 Valley Road, has been thoughtfully renovated to meet the unique and critical needs of vulnerable families.
Our shelter features individual family efficiency units complete with private bathrooms and kitchenettes, creating a sense of privacy and dignity. Families also benefit from renovated common areas, including a fully equipped commercial kitchen, a spacious dining room, a cozy TV room, two playgrounds, and a learning center designed to support children’s growth and development. Confidential staff offices ensure personalized care and case management.
Lucy’s Hearth employs a Housing First approach, prioritizing safe, stable housing as the foundation for overcoming homelessness. We offer programs in financial literacy, empowering families with the tools to manage their finances and build toward independence. Our children’s activities foster a positive, supportive environment for young ones to thrive.
