Description

Founded in 1990, Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter & Services provides emergency food and shelter in Central Maine, along with services designed to help people experiencing homelessness move toward housing stability. Its mission is to help make homelessness rare, brief, and a one-time event.

Through its Emergency Shelter & Housing Assistance Program, the organization helps guests pursue housing subsidies, locate affordable apartments, complete rental applications, and address housing stability concerns. Housing navigation may also include connections to financial assistance, landlord-tenant mediation, budgeting and tenant-rights education, and coordination with other service providers.

Targeted Homeless Case Management helps shelter guests connect with community services such as primary care, mental health support, transportation, disability benefits, MaineCare, food assistance, education, and substance-use treatment and support. For additional guidance, see NHREA’s Maine homeless assistance resources and federal assistance resources. Visit the official website to confirm current program details.
