Sacramento Steps Forward
Description
In 2022, the Sacramento City and County Continuum of Care, the City of Sacramento, the County of Sacramento, and Sacramento Steps Forward came together to launch the Coordinated Access System (CAS)—a unified initiative designed to combat homelessness and streamline access to essential resources.
Before CAS, individuals and families facing homelessness had to navigate multiple agencies on their own, often leading to frustration and limited success. Today, CAS creates a centralized, collaborative network that connects people with the right support and services—ranging from emergency shelter and housing assistance to healthcare and case management—through one coordinated system.
By breaking down barriers and aligning community efforts, CAS ensures that those experiencing or at risk of homelessness receive the timely, compassionate assistance they need to regain stability and build a brighter future.
