Description

Truckers for the Homeless: A Ministry of Compassion on America’s Highways
Across America’s interstates and rural roads, far from the reach of traditional shelters and soup kitchens, there is a growing population of homeless individuals—men and women who live outside the city, surviving near off-ramps, rest areas, truck stops, and other forgotten corners of our nation. These individuals are often invisible to the system, without access to the resources typically found in urban centers—no shelters, no food pantries, no treatment programs, and little hope.
As truck drivers, we see what others don’t. We witness the harsh realities of highway homelessness—people quietly holding signs, asking not only for food but for dignity, for recognition, for compassion. One such encounter in New Mexico sparked the calling that would become Truckers for the Homeless.
A man stood by the road with a sign that read:
I KNOW I’M DIRTY… I KNOW I’M HOMELESS… BUT I’M STILL HUNGRY.”
Those words pierced through the noise of a routine trip. That day, a simple act of kindness—offering a meal and a gospel tract—became something more. As I watched him read the tract before eating, I realized his hunger wasn’t just physical. It was spiritual. And in that moment, a mission was born.
Truckers for the Homeless is a growing outreach movement rooted in the belief that those living on the fringes of society deserve to be seen, fed, and loved. As drivers on the road, we are uniquely positioned to deliver both physical nourishment and spiritual encouragement to those who have fallen through the cracks.
We believe that the love of Christ doesn’t stop at the city limits—and neither should our compassion. While we thank God for urban shelters, Christian charities, halfway houses, and recovery centers, we also recognize the urgent need for outreach in remote and underserved areas where help is rare.
Our mission is simple:
Feed the hungry—wherever they are.
Offer hope through scripture and prayer.
Inspire other truckers to keep their eyes open and their hearts ready.
Create a network of drivers committed to showing love on the road.
There is more to this story—and there will be many more stories to come. Because the truth is:
THE HOMELESS ARE HERE—IF YOU CHOOSE TO LOOK.
Join us in answering the call. Become part of a movement that brings the light of Christ to the darkest, loneliest places on the highway. One meal. One message. One mile at a time.
