Description

Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries was founded in 2015 with a mission to serve the homeless and underprivileged in Pickens County, SC. Established by Tracy and Sunshine Gantt, the ministry is driven by a deep passion for faith-based outreach to those in crisis.homeless and underprivileged in Pickens County, SC. In April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry expanded its impact by opening the Pickens County Shelter of Hope, the county’s first and only homeless shelter. This shelter provides daily housing, meals, clothing, and essential services free of charge to 50-60 homeless men and women. While primarily serving individuals experiencing homelessness, the ministry also supports struggling families with food assistance, clothing, and community events to ensure no family faces hardship alone.homeless shelter. One unique initiative is their Free Yard Sales, where they set up events across Pickens County offering clothing, shoes, household essentials, and toys—all completely free. This outreach helps families and individuals access necessities with dignity and without financial burden, creating opportunities for hope and renewal.
For nearly a decade, the ministry has also hosted an annual Back-to-School Bash, equipping around 1,000 children each year with backpacks, school supplies, and shoes. Supported by government officials, businesses, and sponsors, the event also includes free food, entertainment, and water fun—bringing joy and preparation to the community’s youth.
Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries and Pickens County Shelter of Hope have earned recognition for their dedication, receiving commendations from officials such as Former Easley Mayor Larry Bagwell, Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and Current Governor Henry McMaster. In 2022, the ministry was honored with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, highlighting its lasting impact on restoring hope and strengthening the community through compassion and service.
Since its inception, the ministry has grown through partnerships with local churches, law enforcement, businesses, and community supporters. Their faith-rooted mission focuses on breaking cycles of poverty and homelessness by providing shelter, support, and pathways to stability.
