Black Women Empowered Safe Haven (BWE Safe Haven): Dedicated to Supporting Homeless Women Veterans and Vulnerable Women Facing Domestic Violence and Mental Health Challenges

Founded by Dr. Jacqueline King, BWE Safe Haven was born from a powerful recognition that women who have served in the military face unique challenges and needs that differ significantly from those of their male counterparts. At BWE, we firmly believe that no woman veteran should ever have to worry about where her next meal will come from or where she will sleep at night.

For over ten years, Black Women Empowered Safe Haven has been a vital lifeline for homeless and struggling women of all races, with a particular focus on those living with mental illness and survivors of domestic violence. Our holistic approach embraces the complexity of these women’s experiences, offering not only immediate relief through food and clothing drives but also supporting broader community initiatives that uplift homeless and veteran populations.
