Description

Founded in 1990 by the Greater Waterville Interfaith Council of Churches, the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter & Services (MMHS) is a vital nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe shelter, food, supportive services, and a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless adults, children, and families throughout the Mid-Maine region.

In 2019, the organization updated its name to reflect its expanded mission of supporting low-income and vulnerable individuals with the resources and respect they deserve. Guided by core values of empowerment, equity, and community trust, MMHS envisions a future where homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

MMHS believes in the inherent strength and potential of each person it serves. By fostering relationships based on mutual respect and self-determination, the shelter supports individuals in achieving housing stability and long-term success. Whether through emergency shelter or permanent housing initiatives, Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter & Services is dedicated to transforming lives and building stronger communities—one child, one family, one future at a time.
