Description

National Homelessness Law Center is a Washington, D.C.-based team of attorneys and advocates dedicated to using the power of law to prevent and solve homelessness while protecting the rights of people experiencing homelessness.

Its work includes legal advocacy, training, and support focused on access to safe and affordable housing, healthcare, and freedom from discrimination and cruelty. The Law Center also recognizes structural racism as a root cause of homelessness and connects ending homelessness with addressing racial inequity.

Through the Homelessness Action Legal Team (HALT), the organization works with law firms and corporate legal teams on sustained pro bono engagement. HALT members contribute to efforts involving educational rights for children, challenges to anti-camping laws, and research on the effects of criminalization. Learn more through the official HALT program page.

Visit the National Homelessness Law Center website for additional information. For broader housing and homelessness resources, see NHREA’s federal assistance information.
