The National Coalition for the Homeless is a Washington, D.C.-based organization focused on preventing and ending homelessness. Its mission includes addressing immediate needs, protecting the civil rights of people experiencing homelessness, and advancing access to safe, decent, affordable, and accessible housing.
Through advocacy, public education, and collaboration with government agencies and community partners, the coalition works to improve responses to homelessness and address underlying issues such as inadequate affordable housing and unequal housing policies. It also supports efforts to ensure that people with lived experience of homelessness are heard in policy and community discussions.
The organization’s website provides information about prevention and emergency assistance resources that may help with needs such as rent, utilities, food, health care, and temporary or permanent housing. Visit the National Coalition for the Homeless website for organizational information and current resources. Additional assistance information is available through NHREA’s federal assistance resources.
