Founded in 1981 by local faith congregations, the Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs works to prevent and alleviate the effects of poverty in Frederick County. Its programs provide emergency support for people experiencing homelessness and other urgent financial hardships.
Through its emergency shelter programs, the organization offers shelter for adults and families, along with case management to help residents work toward stable housing. Family shelter services are designed to help families remain together while transitioning back to permanent housing.
Support may include emergency rental and utility assistance, security deposits, prescription costs, emergency dental procedures, and guidance addressing barriers to employment and housing stability. Visit the official Beyond Shelter Frederick website for program information, and explore Maryland homeless assistance resources or federal assistance resources for additional help.
